  The Company's History

The roots of Northeastern Office Equipment go back to a humble beginning in 1955 when our founder, Harry Williams opened up the North Shore Typewriter Company in Port Washington, New York. The dealership was started selling Royal typewriters and related accessories.

In 1957, in order to capitalize on the relatively new and growing copier market, Mr. Williams founded Northeastern Office Equipment Company and opened a modest office in Huntington Station, and began selling the first copier made by NORD & ANKEN. As the marketplace began to grow, so did Northeastern.

In the early years, many of the copier placements were in major accounts, such as Grumman Aerospace, Republic Aviation, and the New York Telephone Company. Because of these high demand and high exposure installations, Norhteastern's emphasis was placed on customer service. This proved to be a wise policy and much of the company's growth and success has come from major accounts.

  Upcomming Trend

As the company continued to grow, the need for more space and better products led to the acquisition of a Konica Dealership and a move to larger facilities on Central Avenue in Farmingdale a few years later.

Northeastern again recognized an upcoming trend in office products and began selling thermal fax units to its major accounts. In 1978, long before other dealers were selling fax, Northeastern became an authorized dealer for Panafax facsimile. At the time, Northeastern was the only dealer in the United States authorized to sell that equipment.

At the present time, Northeastern is an authorized dealer for Savin and Panasonic copiers, Savin, Muratec, and Panasonic fax, Olympus, Philips, Dictaphone and Norcom voice processing products. In 1993 Northeastern was awarded the New York State Contract for dictation products, and has maintained that contract through the present date.

Northeastern has always been on the forefront of new office products technology, and has made a commitment to the new generation of digital and multifunction copiers and faxes and has never lost sight of the original goal of providing the best customer service possible.
